Somebody You Will Have To Know

Yeah, it took me time to present you Eugene Panitchev, but it took him time to send me some pictures too... A future cinematographer, Eugene has "the" eye of a photographer in his pictures, but also in his movies. Obviously though, it is photographs that I present you here... but you can see that his talent is not usual. In fact, there is not a lot to say except that his compositions & his subjects are impressively interesting. There is more a lot to see. Here is three photographs: the first one is an accordeon player (i guest in some Montreal's metro station), three others are digital pictures and the last one was taken in Cuba last summer and is called "The Good Old Days." I hope I am gonna receive more photographs soon, so I can post them here... Till then, remember his name... in some years, you will be able to say you saw some of his first pictures... on MY blog! Good luck, Eugene!

Kiran Ambwani

Kiran Ambwani, a Montreal-based professional photographer, has a background in anthropoly and this definely shows in her photographic essays on people in Munar, Tibetan monks in exile and slum workers in Bombay. However, she does not only specializes in social-kind of photography, but also in more commercial works. Therefore, on her website, you would discover brillant portraits, and very interesting photographs of objects and spaces. While she seems to prefer bright colors and close-ups that attract the eyes on her pictures of objects, her "anthropologic" work is mostly made in B & W and seems to have captured moments of an other dimensions that are -sadly- real. Here, I propose you two documentary photographs (taken on her website) since I think that they are her deepest work. For more magnific photographs, visit her website: http://www.kiranambwani.com/main.html.

New pictures from Andrew

Here are other pictures from Andrew Szczerbaniuk, the new talent I discovered a couple of months ago. I particularly like these metro scenes, quite different from the numerous (too numerous) pictures we often see of Montreal's metro. I personally like the one with the three guys on the bench, caught in action of complete boredom during the cold months of Montreal. And look at all these lines from the ceiling, the fences and the stairs... in addition to have a good subject, the composition is very interesting. Even more than that, I absolutely like the last picture where people are waiting for the bus... completely frozen! The photo is a bit out of focus, but you can still feel the atmosphere of Montreal's winter... when people are tired, everything is dark and cold... Here again, Andrew caught ordinary people in a complete state of doing nothing, but still it makes so natural and realistic photos. Thank God it's summer now and congratulations Andrew for your courage in taking pictures in the coldness of winter!

The beauty of agriculture

O.k. guys, i promise you I am gonna take more care of my blog for the days to come...
So, here are some digital pictures I made for my parents -who are farmers. Yeah... I know, you guys think living on a farm, it's living around cows and pigs... but actually we only do vegetables, spring mix more specifically. And look... it makes wonderful pictures!

Not Rich But Still Powerful
One of my good friends, Charlotte Chicoine-Wilson spent about two weeks in a little village of Guatemala last December. Though she could be sais to be "only" an amateur, I think she took beautiful photographs of children there.

In fact, I think that through her photos, you can see how these kids are full of dignity and of hope. You can see, just by looking at them, how life in all its simplitude can be beautiful and this, even if you are not a rich kid of Western countries with i-pods, x-box or other superficial bullshit.

O.k. I am getting emotional, but I think these beautiful photographs I present you here are the symbols of something we too often forget: the EuPhoRy that simple things could bring to us if we will be able to welcome them... such as the LaUgH of a little human being.

New Talent

Yesterday, I was in charge of the Photo Club when I saw the photos of this new Photo Student: Andrew Szczerbaniuk. In fact, it is really this picture above that strike me. For once, it is rather the concept than the composition (though it is still good) that prevailed... something I think we don't see that much through Vanier Students. Anyway, after I saw this picture, I looked at the other ones, and it surprised me how Andrew has a unique style that is really present in his photographs. That is what I liked about his art and that is why I show it to you: even if Andrew is just starting photography, I think you can see the difference between his and others' art. Later, I will post other photographs of him so you can look at what else he did. But for me, this photograph show how people have a real connection with music, how it can shape their identity, how it can become a part of everybody...
